Rochester Festival Guide

ceramic-990069_960_720Happy weekend Roc City!  If you’ve been living under a rock and missed the Lilac Festival, you’re in luck.   Many more festivals and events are on the way!  Here’s a rundown of some of the area’s most popular ones as well as some personal favorites.  If you have a festival you’d like us to add to next year’s Rochester Festival and Event Guide, please let us know.

Memorial Day Weekend Events

flag-1127885_960_720How proud we are to be Americans and it shows in the many celebrations that are taking place in Rochester. Here’s a great list of the dates and times in our area.   Some unique celebrations include:

Red, White and Blue Balloon Rally:

Massed hot-air balloon flights. Presented by Balloons Over Letchworth. Weather permitting of course.  Archery Field, near Castile Entrance, Letchworth State Park, Castile. Roc City Ribfest

ribfestOkay, maybe it doesn’t scream patriotic, but it’s a Memorial Day Weekend tradition that benefits the Golisano Children’s Hospital.  The Roc City Ribfest is only five dollars for a whole lot of fun. Food truck throw downs, live entertainment, kid’s fun zone and ribs, wonderful, glorious, fabulous, ribs.(Bonus, you won’t have to cook!  Leave it to the pros!)

Fairport Canal Days

logo2016 (1)Just outside of the city, you can celebrate our Western New York heritage on the Erie Canal!  Fairport’s Canal Days is a great festival for the whole family!  Lots of local artists, delicious food & even boat rides on the canal!  This year’s Canal Days are June 3rd, 4th and 5th

 Xerox International Jazz Festival

It’s a little later this year and still as exciting as ever!  85 free concerts, not to mention some tasty treats and beverages.  There are over 225 shows altogether and 12 venues, so start planning now!

Corn Hill Arts Festival

cornhillAt the Corn Hill Fest, art is the main attraction!  With hundreds of artists, you are sure to find something cool for your living room!  Happening July 9th and 10th.

 Park Ave Fest

parkaveffestAnother biggie in the Rochester area, the Park Ave Fest is a whole lot of fun!  This year they are celebrating 30 years of food, music, art & community.  Another free festival (how awesome is our city!?), taking place on August 6th and 7th.  This festival is great for the whole family, and there is always a street performer, musician, or cool shop to check out.  If you’re a foodie, this is a great event for you!  In addition to the great restaurants and bistros on Park Ave, there will also be over 40 food stands with all your favorites!

Summer is just the first half of a great festival season in the ROC!  There’s more to come in the fall, so we’ll keep you posted!!
